Guidelines
Young Musicians of Westchester assists musicians embarking on professional careers with opportunities to perform in free community concerts. Stipends are provided for our performing artists. If you’re interested in performing, please review the following information. Then complete and submit the application on the “Be a YMW Musician” page. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing your talents with our Westchester communities.
Who Can Apply?
Musicians between the ages of 18-32 (35 for vocalists)
Solo performers, chamber ensembles, jazz groups, vocalists, brass ensembles, and international music artists
Conservatories or university music programs
When applying, please provide videos from recitals, competitions – anything that will help us understand and appreciate your talents and the music you would like to perform.
Performance & Venue Details
Concerts generally present one hour of music.
Concerts are held in ADA-compliant venues with suitable pianos. Please let us know of any special requirements.
Music stands, power cords, and a hand-held microphone are provided. (Some venues have additional equipment.)
We do NOT provide instruments, amps, or other special equipment.
Audience Engagement
Performers are expected to introduce themselves and their music. Comments should be pertinent for audiences with differing levels of musical knowledge.
Audience members may include families with children, especially at concerts at public libraries.
We encourage musicians to engage with attendees after the performance.
